All residents of Ontario over the age of 12 are eligible to apply for a snowmobile operator's license. Before a license is issued, applicants must successfully complete a provincial instruction course. Snowmobilers possessing a motor vehicle license may take the instruction course and will be issued a certificate. Courses are offered, at the provincially mandated cost of $40.00 per student, by a number of snowmobile driver instructors throughout Muskoka. Class size is limited and pre-registration is a requirement. Proof of age is required prior to registering.
The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs Driver Training Course has trained over 210,000 students since its inception in 1976. Under the authority of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act, the Ministry of Transportation has authorized the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) as an agent to issue Snow Vehicle Operator's License. Administered by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs and approved by Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
For all courses please see schedule below. Anyone who does not have a valid driver's license because of a court or police action will not be issued a Motorized Snow Vehicle License.

Upon successful completion of course exam a Snow Vehicle Operator's License will be issued.
